Leading Without Losing Your Soul

Debbie Alsdorf

We've all been there: empty and burned out. Yet we continue to serve because that's what leaders do!  Are you serving from an empty cup? Leading this way is possible, but we end up not only depleting ourselves but hurting others. The stakes are high. Without intentional replenishment, we can lose our strength, our hope and our passion for what God has called us to do. This session will explore soul care for the leader. No one else can be responsible for our soul care, but when we have a plan in place, we can experience fullness and joy as we lead, thriving in every season.

Leading Out of Who You Are

Erna Kim Hackett

As we step into leading boldly, we are not only tempted, but often pressured to lead like those who have gone before us.  When those leaders are male, white, and formed in a particular model of church leadership, it can be hard to find our own voice and leadership style. We will look at the story of David being asked to wear Saul's armor as a case study for the ways we are pressured to lead like men, but have been equipped through our own lived experience, to lead out of who we are and our own unique set of skills, gifts, and style.

Leading Through Transition

Rachel Goble

As leaders we hope to continually grow in the vision God is giving us for life and ministry. And often, what comes with growing vision is something much more daunting: Transition. Whether we are stepping into a new role, re-defining our current one or leading others into roles we have outgrown, healthy transition is a catalyst to healthy leadership. In this workshop we’ll dig into the nitty gritty of leading well in times of change. We’ll identify common mistakes that sabotage the process and learn how to put energy into what really matters.

Leading Through Personal Pain

Sarah Hill

In our broken world, encountering pain is inevitable, especially for those of us in an urban context. Perhaps you are in pain right now, alternating between stuffing it down and feeling consumed by it. As leaders we are called not only to serve those who are in pain, but also to steward our own pain.  This workshop aims to increase your ability to lead through personal pain. We will explore how to recognize your pain and trauma, how to boldly pursue healing and model help-seeking for your community, and how to use present pain as part of an ongoing testimony.
